A Chance of Creativity

While home for ThanksGiving Break I was finally able to find all of 30 minuets to complete my Solitude Challenge. I headed to Startbucks, grabbed my usual coffee order, a Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte. In Starbucks language basically that boils down to a large espresso with skim milk and vanilla flavor.

I choose to be in Solitude at Starbucks because its not strange to sit by yourself there and do nothing, so thats exactly what I did. The meaning of the Solitude Challenge is to Unplug, no technology, human interaction, activites. Basically to just sit and think. This was something I was hesitant to complete because when I have free time my mind runs. So I sit and sip my coffee… And this is what happened…

Like I mentioned my mind runs, rapidly from topic to topic. I think what is the point of this solitude challenge other then to unplug and debrief from the world if only for a few moments. I starting tasting my  coffee more, “Does this even have vanilla in it?” I people watched for about ten minutes, but seemed like hours. I am always interested to hear what people order at Starbucks so I can get new ideas for drinkss. I have had the same Starbucks order since Junior year of High School, without fail i only order a skinny vanilla latte. This leads me back to thought of my friend Britney, and our morning car rides for coffee before school, I should really call her.

For a while its just middle rambling thoughts in my head about peoples outfits and things I need to get done for the day. I start giving myself a pep talk in my head about graduating and when I become an adult, or “Real Person” as I like to call it, what I will be, what will my career path be? I am brainstorming companies in my head that I would LOVE to work for, Free People, Starbucks, MAC, Sephora. All surrounding fashion and beauty, but I will never again go back to retail. I want to work in corporate retail, creating visual displays, marketing, managing social media…

I digress from thoughts of the future to thoughts of now, how I can better promote myself. I have been slacking on my YouTube, I have so many ideas and not enough hours in the day. I would love for that to become my career, blogging or vlogging. Maybe for a company? Myself? And this was when I was so happy I started this challenge. A blog for each aspect of visiting a place, “Shop Western MA” “Sleep Western MA” “Drink, Eat, Workout” You get the picture. I am amazed with my idea and want to start NOW!! But… My phone alarm goes off and it is time to reconnect with the world and start my day… Until next time… Which, if not required for a class again, will be never.
