Was It Good?
That depends. Do you like a comic about Amazons with bodies and skills that far exceed the average human to become the elite warriors of Earth? Do you like reading a comic about those Amazons where they spend most of the comic talking about their feelings and emotionally supporting each other? Well then, this one's for you.
Frankly, I was bored stiff with this issue because very little happens, as the paragraph above explains. Instead, most of the issue is spent hopping from one group of Amazons to the next as they talk about their feelings emotionally uplift each other.
In fairness, there are some plot developments. Medusa makes her presence known in a public way. Hints drop that the recently reborn Amazons are not entirely on the up and up. And, Bia has a vision that seems essential (because it gets page space), and we're told is important (because Nubia says so). Still, the vision bears not an obvious connection to anything that's happening at the moment. If the image is intended to be foreshadowing, all the vision is doing is foreshadowing Nubia did something in the past that may or may not upset somebody... maybe.
There's no meat to this review because there's not much meat to the issue. With the previously announced Trial of the Amazons coming up in early 2022, it's starting to feel like a mini meant to highlight one of the most underutilized characters in Amazonian lore (Nubia) is little more than a prelude to something else.
Bit and Pieces
Nubia & The Amazons #3 is a lot of talking, and emotional validation with very little progress on the story other than to hint something happened in the past and something will happen in the future. Unfortunately, the lack of meaningful development on the present makes this issue almost entirely skippable.
