It's time to finish up this arc, where the Brain is trying to achieve hyper genius level so that he can transcend beyond his physical limitations and the only ones who are around to stop him at this point seem to be Donna Troy and Roy Harper. This is going to be our last real "Titans" issue for awhile until "No Justice" wraps up so I hope that with the extra page space of this annual that we're able to get a really good and fitting conclusion to this arc that has put the spot light on Roy Harper, which I've really been up to. Let's jump into this issue and see if we get the Titans Together or if it comes down to Roy and Donna alone. Let's check it out.
For this finale of our arc we see immediately that a lot of the extra page space we have this issue is used to just simply catch people up on what's been going on in this arc and while that was initially disappointing, it does jump into gear pretty quick, where we see the love and admiration that Donna and Roy have for each other has they believe they are fighting their final battle together.
Backup does arrive in the form of Wally West and Nightwing, which makes sense because they're our only other Titans to show up in this arc and while we do get the whole apology thing going on, where Roy gets to say "I told you so" about the threat they're facing. It just goes on too long to the point where we have to make Roy look like the dick that everyone thought he was to begin with and that aspect was a bit disappointing.
Even with the ups and downs to this issue though, there are some really great scenes with our four Titan Heroes and some predictable outcomes to get us to our ending, but even with that, it was just following the set up that's been established since this arc really got rocking. I love the art in this issue and I love the feeling of togetherness that we have at the end and I can't wait to see where our Titan heroes go from here. I only wish that The Brain's transcendence was a little bit more defined and that it could have given us just a glimpse or a peek at what's going on in the broader background of the DC Universe since it looked like The Brain was surpassing Dr. Manhattan levels of power.
Bits and Pieces:
With our big threat of this arc not being defined as well as I would have liked.......... Hell, it seems to be a bit of joke here to keep it as vague as possible, I still really enjoyed myself reading this issue. For the most part our heroes came off being the best possible versions of themselves that they could be and I loved the art depicting one of the biggest threats that the Titans have ever faced. Yeah, things were a bit predictable for how they played out, but it didn't ruin any of my enjoyment for this Annual.
