So, I've been growing increasingly worried that I wouldn't get any actual Drawing instruction in my figure drawing class and I turned to the fount of all knowledge, the internet. In case you didn't know, Youtube has a video for anything and everything, including figure drawing instruction.
Somebody named Ethan has uploaded an eight part series called My Drawing Tutorials, promising to divulge the secrets of good figure drawing. It sounded promising so I watched the first two videos. There really isn't any instruction until the second video which is an exercise designed to learn Human Proportion.
This is what my finished exercise looks like:
To cement the lesson in our brains, we are advised to practice drawing the stick figure without the video at their proscribed intervals, the first interval being only 30 minutes after the initial drawing. But, since I need to get up and make dinner, their schedule doesn't work for me. I'll practice again later. Maybe. I'll get back to you and let you know if it actually makes any difference to my drawings.
