The name of Kolkata Metro Rail will be taken with London, Moscow, Berlin rail soon. The speed of the rail would be enhanced too. Kolkata Metro was started its journey from 20.10.1984 and since then it became the oldest glory of India. 

And now, another feather will soon be added in the story of achievement of Metro Rail - it will soon join in the 'Elite Club' of London, Moscow, Berlin Metro rail. The name of Kolkata Metro will be taken with London, Moscow, Berlin, Munich and Istanbul Metro rail - because unlike those five Metro rails, Kolkata Metro rail will get composite alluminium third line at its north-south corridor. 

Within three phases, Kolkata Metro will install alluminium third line at its 35 kms track. At first phase, the work will be done from Dum Dum to Shyambazar, at second phase, the work will be completed from Shyambazar to Central station and from Jatin Das Park to Tollygunge (Mahanayak Uttam Kumar) station, and at the third phase alluminium third line will be installed at the track from Tollygunge to New Garia station.
