*With a successful career on and off the screen, Keke Palmer has more than made her mark in Hollywood. Her past and present are in good standing and the “Nope” star is looking into what the future holds. A future that includes possible retirement.

“I don’t know. I think the timer has started,” Palmer recently told Teen Vogue. “I think it’s because I just haven’t felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it’s around the corner. I don’t know when exactly, but it’s around the corner.”

Although talk of retirement may disappoint her fans, Palmer has laid the groundwork to go out on a high note with her legacy established.

The entertainer recently garnered headlines by winning an Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show for her role on NBC’s “Password.”

In doing so, she made history as the first woman in 15 years to receive that honor.

In addition to her Emmy win, Deadline noted Palmer’s recent launch of KeyTV, a platform she came up with to help other creators. According to the mother of one, the move is part of a legacy she plans to leave behind.

“The main thing I want those legacies to be is [a call] to use your power for good, to use what you have to create spaces and systems for other people to thrive,” Palmer explained. “I just don’t believe in holding everything. I don’t believe in gatekeeping. I’m not a coward. What would that do? I think it’s based in fear. If I’m speaking on it from a compassionate place, I think people that gatekeep are afraid. So I’m not scared.”

As for her future, Palmer doesn’t know if performing is an option. Yet, she is opening herself up to a variety of choices to pursue down the road.

“When I was younger, I used to have so much anxiety,” said Palmer, who is set to reunite with Aziz Ansari for his feature directorial debut “Good Fortune.” “I love to perform, but is that something that can last forever? I think I always would wonder, Is it something that times out? Obviously, you have people that have been acting their entire careers…. but I just never knew how I could scale myself.”

“If you were a lawyer, you want to get to be a partner,” she continued. “I didn’t understand what the version of that was for me. Some people become directors or they become producers or they become the head of Paramount.”
