*The Trailer for Gloria Gaynor’s inspiring documentary titled “Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive” has dropped.

“For the last 40 years, I’ve been telling you ‘I will survive,’ but I never told you how,” the 80-year-old music icon says in the trailer.

The doc chronicles the singer’s highs and lows, her faith and journey to self-love, as well as the making of her 2019 Gospel album “Testimony,” for which she earned a Grammy. 

“I want them to know how and why I survive, and that these elements of life, these uplifting, encouraging, inspiring, empowering elements of life are available to them as well,” Gaynor explained to People about what she hopes viewers take away from the film. 

“I found that the song ‘I Will Survive’ has been so encouraging and uplifting to so many people around the world, and it’s the story of my life,” Gaynor added.  “So I thought, ‘Let’s give them a little more detail.'”

Director Betsy Schechter appeared recently on “Good Morning America” and shared what she learned while working on the project.

“No matter what pitfalls happen in life, and what you go through and [who] people tell you you should be, you can go beyond it. And you can create the life you want to live. I learned about faith, whatever your faith is, and faith in yourself,” Schechter said. 

Gaynor told the GMA hosts why she thinks her hit song “I Will Survive” continues to resonate with people decades later, saying, “The song celebrates the tenacity of the human spirit. If you’re human, you’ve got a spirit, and the song helps you celebrate, and who doesn’t love to celebrate?”

“Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive” will hit theaters exclusively on Feb. 13.
