2024 Golden Globe Nominations Announced: ‘Barbie,’ and ‘Succession’ Top List of Nominees

*The 2024 Golden Globe Awards nominees were announced on Monday. As expected, “Barbie” is leading the film categories with nine nominations, followed by “Oppenheimer,” with eight, and “Killers of the Flower Moon” garnered seven.

“Succession” was the most nominated TV title, with nine nominations.

Meanwhile, the show’s organizers are having difficulty finding an A-lister to host the event. According to CNN, several top comedians, including Chris Rock, have declined offers to host the January 7 ceremony live from the Beverly Hilton.

The 2024 ceremony will be the first awards show since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) was disbanded after the Los Angeles Times slammed the organization over the lack of Black members. A group of publicists blasted the HFPA, which presented the Golden Globes, for its “pervasive practice of discriminatory behavior, unprofessionalism, ethical impropriety and alleged financial corruption.”

Additionally, publicists called on the HFPA to implement “profound and lasting change” and advised their talent not to attend the awards show. NBC also declined to air the 2022 broadcast.

As of June of this year, the HFPA has been under new ownership with Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries, which acquired all “assets, rights, and properties” related to the Golden Globes, Complex reports. Per the outlet, the new body of voting members is “25 percent Latinx, 14 percent Asian, 10 percent Black, nine percent Middle Eastern, and 42 percent white,” Complex writes.

“In an age when audiences are viewing content on their own schedules, we are delighted to bring the Golden Globes to viewers globally through CBS’ robust platforms,” Helen Hoehne, Golden Globes president and former president of the HFPA, said in a press release.
