*October is Major League Baseball playoff season, but you can’t have the conversation about MLB without talking about the Negro Leagues.

If you know history, you know there was a time when only White men were allowed to play in the major leagues.

Black baseball players … even though their skills were just as good or better – had to play in the Negro Leagues. There’s a museum dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Negro Leagues and the contributions of its players.

Phil S. Dixon is a co-founder of that museum. He spoke about his experience working in the major leagues and the complicated relationship that started with sports integration.
