*Each year, hip-hop icon Nas tries to figure out who killed President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963 in Dallas, Texas. 

“Every once in a while, once a year, I try to figure out who killed JFK,” Nas said in a new interview with Billboard.

Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the Kennedy murder plot but was fatally shot two days after being detained by police. 

JFK’s assassination was allegedly carried out by Oswald, according to the FBI,  but conspiracy theories continue to circulate over who really pulled the trigger.

Elsewhere in his conversation with Billboard, Nas said he has no regrets about naming his 2006 album “Hip Hop Is Dead.”

“I made an album called Hip Hop Is Dead [in 2006]. Sorry not sorry, but I did because there were so many times the power of this music was in the wrong hands—not artists, [but] businesspeople,” he said of the title for the record, which proved to be controversial at the time.

He continued, “To see that we’re here and [hip-hop is] thriving [is incredible]. The art form is crazy right now. That’s a beautiful thing, and for younger artists that are just 20 years old to realize the history that is there and was laid down for them, to look at it and go, ‘Wow, this is a long history with deep roots,’ is a great feeling.”  

In related news, dozens of rappers hit the stage Friday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, at the Bronx’s Yankee Stadium, including Run-DMC, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Lauryn Hill, EPMD, Lil Wayne, Wu-Tang Clan, Ice Cube, Lil Kim, Fat Joe and more, according to THR.

During his set, Nas brought out DJ Kool Herc, considered hip-hop’s founding father, and told the crowd: “This is our love. This is our bloodline.”
