*Singer-songwriter Javonnta Murphy was discovered dead on Monday inside a 55-gallon drum.

Lifeguards retrieved the naked body of the 32-year-old artist from inside a barrel along Malibu beach. The container may have been swept into Malibu lagoon from the ocean by the high tide, according to homicide detectives investigating his death, Daily Mail reports. 

Murphy’s family paid tribute to him on social media while calling for answers about how he died. 

“I’m hurt been up all night, how could somebody do this y’all?’ his cousin wrote on Facebook, Daily Mail reports.

“I’m having a hard time with this why you had to leave us like this cousin damn,” Murphy’s cousin wrote on Facebook.

“Can’t believe what they did to you cousin. Fly high until we meet again, I love you,” she added.

“Keep my family in prayers please we need it. GOD my family need a break please,” the cousin wrote, according to Daily Mail.

“I’m a strong Black man, but this, this is hurtful. I just want to know why. He didn’t deserve it,” Javonnta’s father, Javonnie Murphy, said, NBC Los Angeles reports.

The grieving father last saw his son at a park last Thursday during a family bbq and Javonnta was “in good spirits.” The budding musician played a game of basketball before leaving for home to change clothes. According to his father, Javonnta was supposed to return to the park to eat but never showed up.

Days later, Javonnie saw on the news Monday that a body was found inside a barrel on a beach in Malibu. He received a call the next day informing him that it was his son.

“They were trying to get rid of him. They put him in a thing like that and threw him in the ocean. They were trying to get rid of him,” Javonnie Murphy said.

According to the family, Javonnta didn’t have any problems with anyone and didn’t cause any trouble.

“It just broke the whole family down. We are all hurting right now. We’re all hurting, and we want justice,” Javonnie Murphy said.

So far, no arrests have been made by the police, and the Medical Examiner’s Office is still investigating how Javonnta died.

“The only thing I can say is you have got to answer to the man upstairs,” Javonnie Murphy said. “You have got to answer to Him upstairs.”
