*Olympic gymnastics champion Gabby Douglas confirmed Thursday that she’s training to make a big comeback next year.

Douglas said in an Instagram post she’s “found myself back where it all began.”
“For many years, I’ve had an ache in my heart. But I didn’t want to keep carrying anger, pain, sadness, or regret and through my tears and hurt, I’ve found peace,” Douglas wrote, USA Today reports. “I wanted to find the joy again for the sport that I absolutely love doing.
“I know I have a huge task ahead of me and I am beyond grateful and excited to get back out on the floor.”
Her last competition was at the Rio Olympics in 2016, where she helped the U.S. women win a second consecutive gold medal.

According to Douglas, Paris is her goal. She ended her Instagram post with, “Let’s do this. #2024.”
One fan commented under the post, “The originator of black girl magic you inspired so many little black girls around the world!!! You are so powerful!!!”
Another added, “I’m excited to see you back out there doing the sport you love and are so good at.”
A third person wrote, “YESSSSSSSSSSSS, I was just thinking about you the other day. So grateful that you didn’t give up. God bless you, see you in 2024.”
Douglas became the first African American in Olympic history to win the all-around competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and the first U.S. gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same event.
