*A Texas woman was Left Paralyzed after being body slammed by a thief during a robbery in Houston on February 13.

Nhung Truong, 44, is a single mother of three who Houston police say had withdrawn over $4000 cash from a Bank of America on Blackhawk Boulevard before driving 24 miles to her next location, the 9800 block of Bellaire, Newsweek reports.

“It is probable that the suspect(s) were watching the bank and followed the victim to her next location,” police said.

The suspect, described as a Black male in his early 20s and weighing about 140 pounds, attacked the woman in front of a shopping center and the assault was captured on surveillance video.  The footage was released by the Houston Police Department last week and shows the man’s violent assault on Truong before running off with her money.

When he realizes he grabbed the wrong envelope, the robber ran back to Truong and body-slammed her onto the ground. He then grabbed the envelope containing the cash and fled the scene. The suspect reportedly made off with about $4,300, money Truong had been saving up for a trip to visit family in Vietnam.

Truong’s spinal cord was damaged in the attack, which Left her unable to walk. She now needs round-the-clock care, according to her daughter Linh Thuy Duong on a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds to cover medical costs.

The robber “hit her so hard that it resulted in a severe spinal cord injury,” Duong wrote.

“The doctors say that this injury has affected my mother’s left leg, currently making her a disabled person.”

Duong said her mother’s recovery could take more than two years.

“This means that my mom is unable to work, our family must provide around-the-clock care for her,” she wrote.

“This news has been incredibly difficult for us, and it feels like our world has been turned upside down once again. We love our mom more than anything, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure that she receives the best possible care.”

Truong’s children are aged 13, 15, and 20. Her husband reportedly died after a battle with liver cancer seven years ago.

“I want to formally let you know that I will be raising our fundraising goal, but I promise to ensure that we only raise the amount we need. We are doing everything we can to find ways to cover the costs, including applying for financial assistance and seeking support from our community,” the daughter wrote.

The GoFundMe page had an initial goal of $50,000 and has so far raised over $70,000, Fox News reports.

The suspect remains at large. There is a cash payment of up to $5,000 being offered to anyone who contacts police with information leading to the charging and/or arrest related to the investigation.

Tipsters can remain anonymous but must contact Crime Stoppers of Houston directly by either calling 713-222-TIPS (8477), submitting an online tip at www.crime-stoppers.org, or through the Crime Stoppers mobile app, per Newsweek.
