5 surprising backers of the Paris Climate deal:

1. Coal companies - Three of the top U.S coal producers Cloud Peak Energy, Arch Coal and Peabody Energy support sticking to the agreement and reworking it in their interests. Some companies are worried dropping out of the deal could spark a global backlash against coal.

2. Oil companies - ExxonMobil, Chevron and BP have pledged their support for the Paris climate agreement.

3. Rex Tillerson, Secretary of State the former CEO of oil giant ExxonMobil said this at his confirmation hearing: "The risk of climate change does exist. The consequences of it could be serious enough that action should be taken." Tillerson reportedly worries that withdrawing from the deal could hurt U.S relations with allies.
