BAC Mono - A Formula 3 Race Car For The Road

The Bac Mono is a single-seat, road-legal (in Europe), high-performance sports car that looks to just have the edge on its KTM X-Bow and Ariel Atom track day rivals with the ability to go from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.8 seconds on the way to a top speed of 170mph (273.6km/h).

Constructed using carbon fibre composite around a steel safety shell, the BAC Mono weighs in at 540 kg (1,1901b). It is powered by a longitudinally mounted 2.3-litre, four-cylinder Cosworth engine delivering 280bhp that is coupled to a Hewland F-3 spec 6-speed sequential gearbox.

The adjustable pushrod suspension features damping elements from SACHS Racing, while AP Racing provides the 295mm ventilated disc brakes. Tire maker Kumho has developed a special rubber compound designed specifically to suit the Mono's low weight and optimised pushrod suspension.
