Afghan girls challenge prejudice with Martial Arts. A group of girls slash the air with swords on a snowy mountain as they practice the ancient Chinese kung fu martial arts of Wushu. Women's sport is severely restricted in Afghanistan.
This club in a part of Kabul that's home to the Hazara community is a rare exception. All of the girls in the club are Hazara a Persian speaking, mainly Shi'ite group who have faced a series of attacks recently. Their more liberal social traditional give the girls more room to practice sport.
But Afghanistan is still a notoriously hard country for women and the girls face regular harassment and abuse. But through continuous training the girls hope to create a more peaceful climate in defiance of the daily realities they face.
