Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a national holiday celebrated on the third Monday of January every year. It is a day to honor the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and to remember his contributions to the civil rights movement.

Many events and activities are held to commemorate MLK Day Boston, such as marches, speeches, and community service projects.

In his second to last speech, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. highlighted both the importance of service and the positive impact every individual can have through volunteering. As an organization fueled by the efforts of incredible volunteers, Cradles to Crayons Boston is honoring this sentiment through a Weekend of Purpose.

This year, CTC Boston encourages you to engage your friends, family, and community through a series of volunteer initiatives that will support greatly in their fight against Clothing Insecurity.

The 53rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast

The Martin Luther King Memorial Breakfast celebration will raise awareness about the essential significance of education in the pursuit of social justice. King reminds us that “The function of education, therefore, is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.”

The program will be in-person and also live-streamed online on the day of the breakfast.

Annual MLK Jr. Tribute Concert

A CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. In collaboration with the Museum of African American History, the tribute to Dr. King will feature classical and spiritual pieces performed by young musicians from BYSO’s Intensive Community Program alongside distinguished leaders who will evoke the power and the promise of the civil rights hero through remarks, readings, and spoken word.
