Matchroom Boxing has added WBC Super Lightweight Champion Regis Prograis to its roster. Working on a three-fight deal with the promotion, Prograis will make his Matchroom Boxing debut on June 17 at the Smoothie King Center in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. The two-time champion will share the ring with fellow Matchroom Boxing signee Liam Paro from Australia.

“Over the last few weeks, I’ve been contemplating which move I should make next,” Prograis said, according to ESPN.

“I had a lot of good offers on the table. But I feel like Matchroom is the best for me. I just feel like it’s the right fit. From the beginning, I had that gut feeling and it never left. I can’t wait to start this chapter in my career.”

Prograis holds a record of 28-1 with 24 knockouts. He lost the WBA Super Lightweight Championship after suffering a majority decision defeat at the hands of Josh Taylor in 2019. Since then, he has beaten Jose Zepeda, Tyrone McKenna, Ivan Redkach and Juan Heraldez en route to the WBC Super Lightweight Title. Moving forward, the New Orleans native has expressed an interest in fighting the likes of Josh Taylor, Gervonta Davis and Jack Catterall.
