Despite the rumors, it appears that Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen is staying with the team. According to General Manager TomTelesco, the team will be keeping the veteran wide receiver on the roster for next season. Los Angeles is more than $20 million over the cap heading into the new season and cutting or trading Allen would have taken up a huge portion of that money for the team. They will now have to find another way to clear up that problem with their cap space. The NFL’s next season begins on March 15th.

General Manager Tom Telesco was quoted saying the following about the veteran wide receiver: “Keenan Allen isn’t going anywhere. He’s an incredible player. We have an incredible quarterback. We need weapons around him. There’s never been any thought of that. He’s with us. It’s not tempting to me. Good players make money, and I would rather have a lot of good players on our roster than a lot of cap space.”

This past season with the Los Angeles Chargers, Keenan Allen caught 66 passes for 752 yards and four touchdowns on 89 targets. He also had one carry for eight yards on the season. Injuries have been a major concern for the team including with Allen. When healthy he is one of the better wide receivers in the AFC. It seems that the Chargers recognize his talent and plan to keep him paired with quarterback Justin Herbert.
