Marvel Upgrades ‘Armor Wars’ Series To Feature Film

Details regarding this specific iteration of Armor Wars remain unclear, but the original story explores the idea of Tony Stark’s technology falling into the wrong hands. (Disney/Marvel Entertainment)

It appears that changes are coming to Marvel’s theatrical release calendar. Shortly after Blade lost its director, new reports suggest that Armor Wars was being upgraded from a series to a film. While no director is attached to the project just yet and production has not yet begun, Yassir Lester has boarded the project as the lead writer and Don Cheadle is set to star in the film. Details regarding this specific iteration of Armor Wars remain unclear, but the original story explores the idea of Tony Stark’s technology falling into the wrong hands.

It is a surprise that Marvel would move to upgrade Armor Wars to a film rather than a series. However, this type of move is not without precedent. Previously, Hawkeye was developed as a feature film before being downgraded to a Disney+ series. Since then, Marvel has been prolific with its production of Disney+ series. Since the streaming service’s launch, Marvel has developed series like WandavisionShe-Hulk: Attorney At Law and Loki. Moving forward, Disney+ has plans on sharing series like Secret Invasion and Ironheart.

For now, there is no word as to when Armor Wars will begin production or hit theaters. As the project develops, Marvel fans will have more to look forward to, but patience will be key until that day rolls around.
