President Joe Biden is expected to address the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. The President is expected to address Russia’s recent military efforts while also attempting to strengthen the U.N. and its charter.

“He’ll offer a firm rebuke of Russia’s unjust war in Ukraine and make a call to the world to continue to stand against the naked aggression that we’ve seen these past several months,” National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said, per ABC News.

“Countries cannot conquer their neighbors by force, cannot seize an acquired territory by force,” he said. “He will speak to every country in the world — those that have joined our broad-based coalition to support Ukraine and those who so far have stood on the sidelines that now is a moment to stand behind the foundational principles of the [UN] charter.”

President Joe Biden is not the only world leader to condemn Russia’s recent invasion of Ukraine. On Tuesday, President Emmanuel Macron of France called the nation’s invasion of Ukraine a return to “imperalism.”

“The longer this war goes on, the more it threatens Europe and the world. It could lead to greater conflict where security and sovereignty no longer depend on the strength of alliances, but on the strength of armed groups…and subjugation of others,” Macron said.

“What we have seen is a return to the age of imperialism. France rejects this and will steadfastly search for peace.”

President Joe Biden is expected to take begin his remarks on September 21, 2022 at approximately 10:35 a.m. EST.
