Years ago, Big Sean released what is considered by many to be his best studio album, Dark Sky Paradise. Within the context of the album, Big Sean hopped on “Bounce Back” and said, “Last night, I took an L, but tonight, I bounced back.” Well, it appears at that Australian  bantamweight Jason Moloney has taken Big Sean’s words to heart over his last three fights.

Jason Moloney continued his comeback tour in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday. After suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of Naoya Inoue in October 2020, Moloney returned in August 2021 to defeat Joshua Greer Jr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Months later, he returned to the ring to defeat Francisco Pedroza Portillo by unanimous decision. Tonight, he continued his return to the top with third round knockout of Aston Palicte to win capture the vacant World Boxing Organisation International Bantam Title in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia.

The bantamweight division is currently led by Naoya Inoue of Japan. With a record of 22-0, he sits in the top half of many pound-for-pound lists. He will face the former king of the division, Nonito Donaire, in a grudge match later this month. Other contenders like John Riel Casimero, Nordine Oubaali and Zolani Tete may be future opponents for the Australian fighter.
