Jusuf Nurkic Out Four Weeks with Foot Plantar Fasciitis

Portland Trail Blazers Center Jusuf Nurkic ( Tom Szczerbowski – USA TODAY Sports )

The Portland Trail Blazers will be without center Jusuf Nurkic for about four weeks due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Portland has had rough and chaotic injuries that include injuries and trades that sent several players to other teams. Without both Damian Lillard and Nurkic now the team will be hard-pressed to make a move to the playoffs. The future of the Portland Trail Blazers is murky at best.

Jusuf Nurkic has been an anchor for the Portland Trail Blazers since he arrived on the team a few years ago. He and Damian Lillard are still united on the team, but the future of that alliance is unclear at best. This season with Portland the center has averaged 15 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.8 assists per game. With him injured it is somewhat unclear who will play the majority of the starting minutes at the center position. There are a few young players that could potentially step up and play some more.

The Portland Trail Blazers are currently 25-34 which is good enough for the tenth seed in the Western Conference. San Antonio is currently two games behind the team for the final spot in the play-in game. Without Jusuf Nurkic the team will have to dig even deeper and attempt to stay in the NBA Playoff race. That will be a tall order with all the team’s injuries. We here at Def Pen Sports wish the center the best in his recovery and return to the court.
