Lathan “Lil’ Mosey” Echols has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree rape charge in Washington.

Standing alongside his legal team, Lil’ Mosey appeared before Judge James W. Lawler on Tuesday. Lawler set a $50,000 bail for the chart-topping artist and granted his request to tour throughout the remainder of the year.

“I will allow the travel,” Lawler said.

“It’s not like he can go off and hide somewhere because that would make this so much worse.”

Lil’ Mosey’s attorney, Jennifer Atwood, also requested a January 2022 trial date. Atwood argues that a later trial date will allow the defense adequate time to track down witnesses they weren’t previously aware of. However, Lawler has not yet decided whether or not he will grant the request.

The Washington native’s charges stem from an incident in which he and another young man named Francisco P. Prater had sex with a woman who was unable to give consent. Initially, the woman gave consent, but she blacked out after drinking champagne and white claws. An affidavit obtained by TMZ accuses Lil’ Mosey of having sex with the woman first and then Prater joined in. After the encounter, the victim sustained bruising on her knees, neck and arms. If convicted, Lil’ Mosey and Prater face up to life in prison.
