Twenty-four-year-old shooting guard Donovan Mitchell agreed to a five-year, $195 million max rookie contract extension with the Utah Jazz, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday.

Of the $195 million, Mitchell is guaranteed $163 million, according to Wojnarowski.

the Jazz drafted Mitchell 13th overall in 2017. Mitchell was named to the All-Rookie First Team in 2018 and won the Slam Dunk Contest at All-Star Weekend the same year. In 2020, he became an All-Star for the first time and averaged 24 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game while shooting 44.9% from the field and 36.6% from 3-point range, all career-high marks.

In the 2020 NBA Playoffs, the Jazz lost a competitive seven-game series against the Denver Nuggets. Mitchell scored 40-plus points in three games of the series and averaged 36.3 points, five rebounds and 4.9 assists while shooting 52.9% from the field, 51.6% from 3-point range and 94.8% from the free-throw line.
