Could Aubrey Plaza Be the Next Catwoman?

Aubrey Plaza has been adamant about her desire to play Catwoman in the past, now it seems like she’s lobbying for the role in Matt Reeves ‘The Batman.’ (Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic)

Since her days on Parks and Rec, Aubrey Plaza has been pretty vocal about wanting to play Catwoman at some point in her career. Whether she’s been joking this whole time or not, it’s beginning to seem much more realistic. With Matt Reeves’ The Batman on the way, and Robert Pattinson, of all people, next in line to wear the cowl, Plaza could legitimately be eyeing a role in the film.

Last week she took to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert while promoting Child’s Play and poked fun at the idea that she could be stepping into Selina Kyle’s shoes (paws?). “Okay, I’ve said that in like a couple [of] interviews because… I get asked questions like, ‘If you were a superhero, which one would you want to be?’ And I just always think of Catwoman because I just love that character and I love the Catwoman movie. The Halle Berry one. But it’s not something I think about every day… I’m just not gonna even try to get that part. There’s no way in Hell they’re gonna cast me.”

Stephen wasn’t buying it though and gave her the chance to “audition” on his show by offering her a pair of cat ears. Plaza did her best cat impression and I’m not sure about y’all but I’m sold. There’s no easy way to describe her performance so just check out the interview below. The ‘Catwoman talk’ starts about 6 minutes in if you don’t want to sit through the whole video.

The Batman hits theaters on June 25th, 2021. Production is set to begin by the end of this year.
