Over the last decade or so, Hollywood has been on a huge nostalgia kick. In just the last few years alone, Cobra Kai, The Twilight Zone, and Halloween have all brought back classic franchises from the past. Well, get ready to add another name to that list as Willow may be hitting our screens again too.
That’s right, Ron Howard’s 1988 cult fantasy classic could be getting a Sequel Series, according to the director. “There are some really serious discussions going on with Jon Kasdan, who was one of the writers of Solo, who kept hounding me about Willow the whole time we were shooting and also hounding Kathy Kennedy.” Howard recently said on MTV’s ‘Happy Sad Confused’ Podcast. “We’re in discussions about developing a Willow television show for the Disney+. And I think it’d be a great way to go. In fact, George always talked about the possibility of a Willow series, and it’d be great and more intimate, and built around that character and some of the others. And Jon Kasdan has, I think, an inspired take on it and it could be really, really cool.”

For the uninitiated, Willow tells the story of a dwarf named Willow who reluctantly accepts a dangerous quest. The fantasy tale revolves around a baby girl who is prophesied to bring about the end of an evil queen. Willow and his allies must protect the baby girl and save the realm from the forces of darkness.
Obviously, there are no details for the proposed series yet. Though I’d expect Warwick Davis to return and reprise his role as the titular dwarf if the series happens. Stay plugged into Def Pen for any updates on this story.
