Team Stephen defeated Team LeBron 148-145 in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game behind 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists from LeBron James.

Prior to tipoff, fans noticed that Anthony Davis was heartwarmingly wearing the jersey of his injured teammate DeMarcus Cousins, who was supposed to start in the All-Star Game:

And Cousins appreciated the gesture:

The game was a bit sloppy in the early goings, but LeBron James helped get things going with a sweet bounce pass to Anthony Davis for the alley-oop slam:

Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving showed off a new dribble move:

LeBron James threw down a nasty reverse dunk in the second quarter:

Joel Embiid certainly showed out in his first All-Star Game:

Embiid finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Captain Curry connected on just three of his 11 3-point attempts, but this one was pretty cool:

The relationship between LeBron James and Kyrie Irving appears to be OK:

James made a nice layup, and Stephen Curry was impressed:

Victor Oladipo threw down a pretty reserve dunk in transition in the third quarter, which might have been better than his dunks in Saturday night’s dunk contest:

The game went down to the wire, and James tied it up at 144 with 1:30 left on this step-back 3-pointer:

James got another impressive bucket in crunch time:

There was a very controversial (AKA wrong) call on a pivotal play in the final minutes of the game.

Nevertheless, Team LeBron got the win after they stifled team Stephen on the last possession; the opposition wasn’t able to get a shot off in time:

Fittingly, captain LeBron James won MVP of the game (for the third time of his career):

This was the first year in which the NBA ditched the East versus West format for the All-Star Game in favor of the new format, in which the two highest-voted players (this year LeBron James and Stephen Curry) serve as the “captains” of their teams and draft the selected players onto their teams.

Did you like the new format?
