The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a six-year, $126 million contract with free-agent starter Yu Darvish, Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports. The deal also includes incentives that can bring Darvish’s total contract amount to $150 million.

Darvish is coming off a season where he split time between the Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers. On July 31, the Rangers traded Darvish to the Los Angeles Dodgers for prospects Willie Calhoun, A.J. Alexy and Brendon Davis. Darvish went 4–3 with a 3.44 ERA in nine starts for the Dodgers. Overall in 2017, Darvish made 31 total starts with a 10-12 record, 209 strikeouts, and a 3.86 ERA.

He will look to bounce back from his latest appearances in the World Series where he went 0-2 with a 21.60 ERA. In his 5 years in the Major League, he has a career 3.42 ERA. Darvish is known for his deep arsenal, led by a mid-90s fastball and a slider. He also has the highest strikeout rate, 11.04 per nine innings, in major league history among starting pitchers with more than 800 innings.
