The Indiana Pacers converted the two-way contract of shooting guard Alex Poythress to a standard NBA deal this week, signing him to a new contract after his impressive first 11 games with the club.

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have signed forward Alex Poythress to a contract. Per team policy, terms were not revealed.

Poythress’ deal, according to Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports, lasts for two seasons — this season being guaranteed. He posted this to social media early Thursday morning before the transaction was announced:

Poythress, 24, is in his second season as an NBA player. He spent part of last season with the Philadelphia 76ers, appearing in six games with the team. In his 11 games this season with Indiana, he’s averaged 4.7 minutes per contest with just under one point per game thus far.

Poythress is an accomplished young forward who went undrafted out of Kentucky in 2016. He was a G League All-Star last season with the Mad Ants and has averaged 20 points, nine rebounds and 2.7 assists with the club in six games this season.

Poythress becomes the third player to have his contact converted from a two-way deal this season, joining Hawks forward Tyler Cavanaugh and former Suns guard Mike James.
