After such a successful NBA career, it has been a rough stretch of retirement for the 34-year-old Ben Gordon. Though this will mark Gordon’s third year out of the NBA, not playing professionally, unfortunately, hasn’t kept him out of the spotlight. Gordon has had his fair share of unwanted run-ins with the law, with two of those instances coming in the past six months.

Gordon was first charged for falsely pulling fire alarms in his apartment complex in June and then was recently hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation after he was arrested at his own business. Gordon had locked himself and another woman in the store and was found locked in the bathroom with a boxcutter once the woman was freed by authorities.

Despite these recent legal issues, the list goes on for Ben Gordon as he was again arrested during an NYC traffic stop later last night. According to the New York Post, Gordon was charged with driving with a forged license plate:

Former NBA star Ben Gordon was arrested during a car stop in Manhattan Sunday night for driving with a forged license plate, police said.

During the stop, the officer ran the car’s Florida license plate and noticed the registration expiration date was different than what was displayed on the vehicle.

Gordon, 34, was arrested and given a desk appearance ticket, meaning he will have to go to court to settle the matter in the near future, officials said.

Though less serious than his previous arrest, this string of legal issues is troubling for Ben Gordon. There are clearly some off-court demons he’s dealing with and if those issues are making him do things he typically wouldn’t do, getting professional help should be a real option.

Gordon played 11 seasons professionally for the Bulls, Pistons, Magic, and Hornets and took home the Sixth Man of the Year award during his rookie season in 2004. Gordon posted career per-game averages of 14.9 points per game to go along with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The off-guard last played in 2014-15 as a member of the Orlando Magic and was reportedly working towards an NBA comeback last year.
