Jeff Hornacek Doesn’t Think Knicks are Discussing Kristaps Porzingis Trade: “I Don’t See Him Going Anywhere”

New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek does not believe that the team is discussing trading franchise centerpiece Kristaps Porzingis any longer:

Porzingis, 21, was rumored to have been available for the right price prior to the Draft. The Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics had reportedly been in talks with the Knicks about a Porzingis trade.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that the Knicks were concerned about Porzingis’ future due to his injury history.

Since then, the Knicks have parted ways with Team President Phil Jackson. It’s likely that Jackson was the one pushing for a Porzingis trade, and with him out, the Latvian big man’s future with the team may be more assured.

Last season, his second in the NBA, Porzingis averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2 blocks per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range.
