NikeLab Vision-AIRS Pack Brings Unique Design to Air Max Day

Tags: air max

So at this point, 14 days into Air Max Month, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of “Visible Air,” nothing Nike announces for Air Max Day should come as a surprise. We’ve seen more innovative concepts and visuals for new Air Max iterations than ever before. We’ve also been treated with a duo of Air Max 1’s taking it all the way back to the original. Now, NikeLab is getting a hand in on the festivities as we approach Air Max Day. The NikeLab Vision-AIRS Collection combines the innovative idealism encapsulated in several Air Max models with inventive changes by some of the biggest names in design.

Introduction to this collection took place a few weeks ago. When images of a mid-top rendition of the Air Max 97 with RT* branding began to surface, we had no idea that it was only 1 piece of a very interesting pack. The collection also makes use of the AirMax 1 Ultra 2.0 Flyknit and new VaporMax. The collection is set to hit retailers in limited quantities on Air Max Day, March 26th. The shoes will be available on Air Max Day. The Air Max 97 retails for $200, the Air Max 1 Ultra FK is priced at $250 and the VaporMax retails at $275. Check out the full collection below and leave us a comment telling us what you think.

NikeLab Air VaporMax x Marc Newson

The new VaporMax model may prove to be one of Nike’s most popular models in 2017. We’ve already seen a COMME des GARÇONS collab and the hyped Platinum colorway hits retail March 26th. The Vision-AIRS collection brings the creativity of Australian designer, Marc Newson, to the new silhouette. The Flyknit upper has been extended up the ankle, creating a sock-liner aesthetic that has become so popular recently. The pair also weaves Vachetta tan leather into the upper. This Flyknit-leather hybrid rejects the Flywire bound lacing on the original model, instead opting for a velcro strap. The pair is accented with Vachetta tan on the front and rear pull tabs, and of course sits on the full-length Air unit sole.

NikeLab Air Max 97 x Riccardo Tisci

Italian Designer and former Creative Director of Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci returns to bring his styling to another Nike model. Tisci has developed a reputation of creating completely new silhouettes while developing his collaborations with Nike. This is evident in pairs like the RT x Nike Dunk Hi Chukka and RT x Nike Air Force 1 Collection. This time, the famous designer brings us the first mid-top version of the Air Max 97. Th upper is mostly made up of a black leather, drawing from RT’s inspirations in Italian couture. Gold detailing gives the pair an even greater appearance of high fashion influence.  The functionality of the pair is extended with a hidden zippered pocket in the tongue. The highlight of the sneaker lies in the contrast created by the bright white outsole, providing a Spring look that

NikeLab Air Max 1 Ultra 2.0 Flyknit x Arthur Huang

Architect and CEOof Miniwiz, Arthur Huang, uses his knowledge in structural engineering to deliver one of the lightest Air Max iterations to date. The pair combines the Vac-Tech tooling of the Air Max 90 VT with the light breathability of Flyknit, all while using recycled material. The pair opts for triple black colorway, providing a sleek look that Air Max fans have grown accustomed to.
