American Girl through the years has taken some interesting turns throughout its history. Their most recent venture is no exception- American Girl Vacations! That’s right, American Girl has jumped into the tourism game, launching two trips themed around their characters designed to help American Girl fans experience the lifestyle of their favorite dolls.

From their website, “Every trip is filled with character-building experiences that prioritize action over observation. As your child explores their favorite character’s home, history, and hobbies, they build confidence, grow in their open-mindedness, and are inspired to make a difference in the world.” Each group is 25 people or less, in the hopes of building bonds with your fellow travelers. As you might assume, children are expected to travel with at least one adult and activities are curated for ages 7-12.

Currently, you can book two trips: Hawaiian Holiday with Nanea and Lights! Camera! Action! Rebecca’s New York. Both trips start around $4,500. An itinerary can be found on the website. While no doll is included, I would suggest bringing an AG friend with you to join in on the fun! There’s a frequently asked questions that is a good place to start if you’re considering joining one of these trips.

Hosted by Academic Travel Abroad, I’ll be interested in seeing how these American Girl Vacations play out! Obviously, I’m not the target demographic for these, but the idea seems solid. Personally, I would prefer a more immersive theme park experience, I think, to a vacation package, but as far as ideas go, I think this one will make lots of happy memories for many families!
