Lottie Dolls Takes on Down’s Syndrome

Lottie is a Doll brand that’s been on my radar since their inception. Based in Ireland, Arklu, the company behind Lottie, is known for making quality dolls with the proportions of a 9 year old and empowering messages. Since 2012, Lottie has continued to expand their line in new and inclusive ways. They excel at making dolls with themes that really inspire girls and boys to “be bold, be brave and be you”, as their tagline says.

Be Bold, Be Brave, Be You

Most recently, Lottie sent out an email about their newest campaign: creating a doll based on a young girl named Rosie, who happens to have Down’s Syndrome. The company first learned of super fan Rosie when her father reached out to Arklu to share that he had created a life-size replica of Lottie’s playhouse for his children. As a token of their appreciation, the company decided to offer Rosie a custom, one-off doll inspired by her. When her father saw the prototype, he commented that many people would probably appreciate this “Rosie Boo” doll.

I believe he’s right. So many people are affected with Down’s Syndrome, so I feel like there are people out there that would get so much from a doll like this one. Because it’s expensive to dive into production blindly with any product in a normal climate, it’s even tougher to pull the trigger in the time of Covid-19, where the only thing you can predict is unpredictability. Because of that, Lottie wants to know if this is a doll you’d be interested in seeing. The Rosie Boo doll would retail for $25.00 USD.
