Shleich’s Jungle Creature

Thanks to Sweet Suite @ Home, a few fun items have found their way to our front door! One them was Shleich’s Jungle Creature, new to the Jungle World of Eldrador! The basic mythology behind the line is that there are various worlds, like Lava, Ice, Stone, Water or now Jungle, and each world is vying to get their hands on a special sword that will secure their power.

“At Schleich we believe that promoting creativity and a rich imagination is one of the most valuable gifts you can give a child.”

Iconic German company Schleich was founded in 1935. It wasn’t until a few years later, in 1946, when Friedrich Schleich, who the brand was named after, developed velvet-covered dolls made of wire and wood. Those dolls were the first of many. By 1950, the brand consisted of 13 lines, which grew to 70 by 1957 and grew even more exponentially since then! By 1955, Schleich worked their magic on Disney properties, Pluto and Bambi and a couple years later released their first series of realistic animals, a sea lion family, an elephant, and a kangaroo. Eventually, they became a worldwide name when they began producing Smurfs in 1965. They began concentrating on detailed animal figures in the 80’s and since then had a hand in over 600 creations and sell over 50 million toys a year!

Schleich strives to promote a rich imagination through creative play.

One of their core principals is to stimulate and develop a child’s imagination. And honestly, I think they are doing a great job at succeeding at this goal! It’s easy for your imagination to take hold if you’re given the right toys, toys that speak to you, and Schleich has proven that they can make very pretty, highly detailed, fun creatures to play with. Also important to them is that their toys are as safe as can be, using non-harmful raw materials and have them regularly checked and approved by independent laboratories.

Schleich’s Jungle Creature

Schleich’s Jungle Creature is a pretty cool looking fantasy creature with limited articulation. He truly looks like he’s made from tree stumps and vines. The paint job is delicate and detailed. The Jungle Creatures mouth and head are not articulated, however two vine like arms are on ball joints that allow you to move them in any direction. His thorned tail also has some movement– it rotates to add a little extra danger to your story. The Jungle Creatures isn’t something I’d want to meet if I were alone in the jungle, that’s for sure!
