We’ve seen a few ‘Design Your Own’ Barbie campaigns from Mattel over the years– here’s the latest! This year, Mattel’s @BarbieStyle Fashion Doll Series is putting design decisions into our hands. The @BarbieStyle Fashion doll is inspired by the Barbie Style Fashion blog on Instagram.

This line will feature four dolls (Barbie and three friends), with one doll being released per season in 2021. The survey currently running on their site is all about Spring fashions and features Barbie! Each doll in this series will be sold exclusively online and come with:

• One suit
• One jacket
• One dress
• One pair of sunglasses
• One handbag
• Two pairs of shoes

How does this new program work? It’s pretty basic. Collectors go to the official website and take a brief survey, featuring questions like, “In your opinion, which one of the following attributes would make the @BarbieStyle Fashion Doll Series most unique and desirable?” with multiple choice answers. Other questions are regarding Barbie’s hair, face and fashions. The answers to this short poll will help determine what features we’ll be seeing in the @BarbieStyleFashion doll series.

Unfortunately for this survey, the most important question was left off– do you prefer an articulated body or a non-articulated body. Let’s hope they’re smart enough to know that we all want an articulated body for this (and all future releases).
