This business and legal affairs role is part of the Digital team. The role interfaces directly with Sony’s major digital partners and ensures that Sony and its artists are properly compensated and protected in Sony’s recorded music licenses with digital partners. You will be on the other side of the negotiations with very talented and experienced lawyers.

what you gonna do

• Draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements authorizing the digital distribution of Sony Music’s various intellectual property assets through a wide range of platforms and business models.
• Provide legal advice on a wide variety of contractual, antitrust, copyright, trademark, corporate and privacy matters.
• Provide legal advice on business opportunities in a dynamic and evolving digital landscape. Think NFT, DAO, Metaverse, etc.
• Provide historical context and a framework of the digital landscape to contextualize and advise on new digital partners.

Who are you

• Fundamental understanding and appreciation of technology and devices.
• 3+ years of experience in a large law firm (preferably in intellectual property or corporate).
• JD from a major law school.
• Member in good standing of the New York Bar.
• The ideal candidate is a “technician” par excellence by vocation.
• Excellent writing skills, as well as analytical and communication skills.

This position requires the job candidate to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
