We Are Moving The Needle (WAMTN) is a non-profit organization that supports all professional women in the recording industry, sound engineers and producers. We are an inclusive organization striving to create measurable change by giving women in the recording and professional audio industry the education, equipment and mentorship to succeed at the highest level.

Founded by 8-time GRAMMY-winning mastering engineer Emily Lazar, WAMTN strives to close the gender gap and bring equity and inclusion to today’s recording industry, as well as guaranteed growth and progress for generations to come.


POSITION SUMMARY

We Are Moving The Needle is looking for a dynamic full-time fundraiser to join our team. This is an exempt, full-time, remote position. The Chief Development Officer (DD) will have significant autonomy in setting strategy, planning, organizing and executing all aspects of WAMTN’s giving Program, including mid- and major-level giving, annual fund, monthly giving and corporate giving initiatives. This position will be supported by a full-time Producer/Project Manager (currently focused on all educational events, scholarships, job fairs and affiliate organizations – She Knows Tech / Fix the Mix Job Fair). The DD reports directly to the founder of the organization.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraiser with an innovative and go-getter mentality. Their skills will be used to establish and develop an annual and Major Gift program and portfolio. They will also be responsible for identifying new prospects as well as maturing and diversifying an existing corporate giving portfolio. This candidate has strong expertise in moving prospects through a donor culture cycle and is comfortable developing relationships with donors at all levels of giving potential. As a member of the leadership team, the Director will provide regular verbal and written progress reports and interact regularly with staff, Board of Directors and volunteers. The candidate must be comfortable in ambiguous/fluid environments and have the ability to strategically move projects forward with efficiency and results.

Individual donations (35%)

Separate focus on developing and growing an individual giving program to include annual fund development, monthly giving, and major gift solicitation.

Major gifts:

  • Identify new and existing major gift prospects
  • Develop custom cultivation and stewardship plans for top prospects
  • Support/guide SoundBoard and the Founder in donor engagement and fundraising efforts

Annual Fund/Monthly Donations:

  • Leverage events and engagement opportunities to develop an annual giving program
  • Create accessible materials that engage and convert supporters into donors

Corporate and foundation donations (35%)

  • Identify and develop new and existing business relationships. Identification of potential leads, pitch development, solicitation and follow-up required to secure corporate funding for programmatic support and capacity building
  • Develop and manage all grant applications for foundations and corporations. Manage all impact reporting requirements
  • Develop and build an event sponsorship program in partnership with the producer/project manager
  • Build the program, communications and budget materials needed for donor solicitation and management

Capacity building and administration (30%)

  • Manage 501(c)3 incorporation filing project and status of incorporation in partnership with Founder and Legal Counsel
  • Partner with the Founder to define board roles and responsibilities for bylaw development and fund activation
  • Collaborate with the team to advise on organizational growth strategies and the development of a fundraising plan
  • Prepare timely reports and status updates for management
  • Advise on setting up an organizational CRM system and ensure all fundraising activities are documented and regularly updated for ongoing visibility
  • Advance WAMTN’s mission through conferences, networking, and other necessary presentations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising experience, including two or more directly engaged in individual and major donor programs and/or corporate philanthropy departments
  • Proven track record in cultivating, soliciting and closing significant giveaways
  • Experience in developing a fundraising strategy, designing and executing campaigns and new programs is essential
  • Experience in a small or medium-sized non-profit organization is preferred
  • Performs work in an inclusive manner, respecting diversity of culture, abilities and backgrounds
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with strong collaboration and decision-making skills
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and building processes and systems from scratch
  • Superior time management and multitasking skills – ability to prioritize / boost team focus and efficiency
  • Proficiency in office systems and familiarity with CRM database systems/donor management processes
