The Rock at UT Painted for Easter

UTK Cru put Matthew 28:6 — He is not here — He is risen along with a cross on it.

“The Rock” on the University of Tennessee campus is a large boulder that serves as a canvas for students to express themselves through paintings and messages. Located near the Pedestrian Mall, it has become a symbol of free speech and artistic expression on campus. Students often paint it with various messages, artwork, and announcements, making it a dynamic and ever-changing part of campus culture. The tradition of painting The Rock dates back to the 1960s and continues to obe a prominent feature of student life at UT Knoxville.

“He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”

Matthew 28:6

Often, you can find faith-based messages on The Rock. Sometimes they last a while and other times the message can be up and gone.

UTK Cru also did this in 2022.
