Chapter 2: How I got here

I was kind of drifting, doing odd jobs here and there, always on the move, didn't like to stay in one place for too long. Didn't like those jobs where you sit at a desk. Too confining. Liked the open air.
Worked all kind of jobs in my time. Farm work, Landscaping, snowplowing, short order cook. Construction labourer, where ever the wind blew me. This job I stumbled on, cause I had just been 'let go' from a landscaping job down south, so Jack told me about the haying. Jack was sort of like my uncle. Guess you could say. Some of us stayed in the bunkhouse. Couple of french guys which I didn't know what they were talking about. They sure did like their marijuana. Myself, I was more of a beer guy. My general rule of thumb was don't stay in one place for too long. Kind of makes you a target. When I was younger I kept finding myself in trouble with the law. Not anything big. Robbing convenience stores, stuff like that. Stealing cars. Except when you're into that world you are always pissing somebody off. You're always encroaching on someone, Always got to be keeping an eye on whats behind you. Never knew who was going to rat you out. Anyway got into some trouble and been on the move ever since. Don't know where I'll end up next. When you're always on the move, you don't stay enough in one place to get attached. So about this guy. At first I thought he was brain-damaged. Cause it certainly seemed like there was nobody home.
