Books you should read (1)

Welcome to my news series: Books you should read! Once in a while, I will introduce you to books that have inspired me and that I feel deserve more attention. Today’s edition is all about history. ‘The Agitators: Three Friends Who Fought for Abolition and Women’s Rights’ Very compelling, albeit scholarly, accounts of Martha Coffin Wright, Frances Seward, and Harriet Tubman, the three famous abolitionists and women’s rights activists who lived during the tumultuous period leading to the Civil War. ‘Salt: A World History’ Did you know that salt once served as currency and was instrumental in wars? The rock we eat has shaped society and been part of our lives for millennia. An excellent book! ‘Curious Cameras: 183 Cool Cameras from the Strange to the Spectacular’ A showcase of cameras (and vintage photos) owned by George Eastman House. You will find items such as spy, watch, and toy cameras. The author also provides insights on each page. For fans of photography! ‘All Rivers Run to the Sea: Memoirs’ Wiesel tells about his childhood in Sighet, Romania, the horrors of Auschwitz and Buchenwald, his years of spiritual struggle, and his life as a Nobel Prize-winning novelist. One of the most powerful accounts of survival you will ever read. ‘Stolen Continents: Conquest and Resistance in the Americas’ Within decades of Columbus “discovering” the Americas, most of the 100 million of people who lived in that part of the world had been wiped out by epidemics and European assaults. This Book tells us what happened through their eyes and words. It should be mandatory reading in schools. I hope you enjoyed this selection of photography books. Which one would you add to the list?  Thank you for reading!
