5 things to try at Sake no Hana #London #Mayfair

Thank you to freelance writer and blogger Cally Lai for this review.

Sake no Hana is a fine dining Japanese restaurant situated in the heart of Mayfair, a stone’s throw away from Bond, Conduit and Bruton street. They have a carefully selected menu delivering well thought out and high-quality Japanese food. Sake no Hana is the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of London.

Sake no Hana is celebrating Japanese Golden Week with Koinobori, carp streamers that are traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Tango no sekku; children’s day. Carp are considered the most spirited fish, full of energy and power that they can fight their way up streams and waterfalls, a metaphor for a child’s journey through life. Sake no Hana have created a beautiful menu to celebrate this special celebration.

Here are my top 5 things to try at Sake no Hana

1.Koinobori Martini

A belvedere vodka, sakura tea cordial, lime juice, foamer and koi carp rice paper martini. This martini was light and sweet, the perfect accompaniment to sushi. My favourite thing about this martini was the detailing on top. There were gorgeous koi fish printed onto the rice paper which really finished the martini off.

2. Yakitori Corn Fed Chicken

Grilled miso chicken, shishito pepper and yuzu chilli sauce. This was one of my favourite dishes to try at Sake No Hana. The chicken was so tender and cooked beautifully due to being cooked on a charcoal grill. I would definitely recommend trying this dish, you won’t regret it.

3. Haru Yasai Miso Salmon

Served with asparagus, rape seeds and wild garlic sauce was another fantastic dish on their new menu. The salmon came grilled to perfection and melted in my mouth. This was a big success with everyone else there and you could see everyone enjoying the salmon.

4. Kisetsu Ysai Tempura

This vegetable tempura is suitable for veggies and meat eaters alike, the vegetables were encased in a crunchy, crispy yet light batter and will make the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

5. Selection of Wagashi

A selection of traditional Japanese confections that are often served at the end of a meal with tea. The selection included dorayaki, ichigo daiuku, mitarashi dango and Matcha Roll Kace. I am a big fan of matcha, Japanese green tea, so my personal favourite was the matcha roll kace, a light and moist matcha sponge cake rolled into swirls with a creamy filling.
