January 20, 2014, Petaluma, CA – “Connecting our efforts with St Barts London Charity and contributing what we could to a great cause was very important to us– giving back has been a long time mission of mine,” said John DeGaetano, Director of the Sherlock Holmes 10 Minute Plays Collection and author of several other short stories. St Barts London Charity is an independent charity funding innovative healthcare and medical research across Barts Health NHS Trust and the associated schools of medicine and dentistry. The hospitals serve Europe’s most diverse communities from the wealthy financial districts of the City and Canary Wharf to some of the UK’s most deprived areas.

“The efforts coincidentally were driven by one of the main characters in the stories, Dr Watson and his fictional presence in the original Arthur Conan Doyle stories as a resident of the hospital in the 1800’s. It seemed only fitting that we recognize this along with the hospital’s incredible work on cancer research that we earmark some of the proceeds from the production, said DeGaetano in a recent statement. “Our cast made an amazing team effort to put the production together in such a short amount of time.”

“I know that our friends at St Barts London Charity are incredibly appreciative of the donation,” reflects DeGaetano. “In our small way, it helps them accomplish their goals as we know that every dollar will be well spent for those in need.”The Sherlock Holmes 10 Minute Plays, a series of short stories performed onstage at London’s West End Leicester Square Theatre and the at Islington’s Kings Head Theatre in October 2013.

Produced by Irish Theatre Presents, the talented London based cast for the production included – Simeon Oakes, Roger Parkins, Ceejay Sargent, Jeffrey Mayhew, along with Jodyanne Richardson, Josh Morrall, Juliet Prew and Tom Moores. “The actors brought to life these iconic characters in a quick turnaround on stage. As the stories grow in intensity as it was up to Holmes and Dr. Watson as well as the audience to immediately unravel the mysteries.” Based in part from the career writings of Holmes’ long time friend Dr. Watson. The play scripts are homage to Conan Doyle and his iconic characters, brought to life with short story just 10 to 18 minutes in length.
