Ibrahimovic unlikely to get new Manchester United contract

Manchester United are not likely to provide Zlatan Ibrahimovic a contract expansion, according to Sky sources.

United have the option of exercising a 12-month expansion to Ibrahimovic’s one-year offer, which is up at the end of the month.

However despite the 35-year-old’s preference to stay at Old Trafford, sources claim his name is most likely to be on the club’s list of released players to be released by the Premier League on Friday.

And releasing last period’s leading marker would certainly free United’s wage costs of a huge salary – greater than ₤ 19m, inning accordance with numbers released in a recent book – ahead of the transfer home window.

United are confident of finishing an offer for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, while the Spain demonstrator’s club team-mate Raphael Varane is among their protective targets.
