What is the Mahadev Betting App case?

Mahadev Satta App is an online app that allows people to place bets on games and events. It was started by Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal Mahadev. As per reports, they were heavily into betting and that's how they became friends. They both ran away to Dubai and with the help of a Sheikh and a Pakistani partner, they started this betting app. Slowly, their business grew. They promoted the app as a gaming app but ED had their doubts. If reports are anything to go by, a lot of influential people have invested their money in this app. ED also suspects the underworld's hand in this case.

The company came under the radar when celebrities were invited to Chandrakar's home wedding and celebs were paid in cash. The rough amount to be spent is approximately Rs 200 crores. ED is probing why the payments of such large sums were made in cash. They wonder if money is being laundered abroad or whether it is a case of tax evasion.
