After a lackluster opening week at the Box Office, the only hope for Chhapaak to sustain in the long run was an upswing on its second Friday. However, the film has fallen completely flat, bringing in a measly figure of Rs. 1 cr Nett, which takes its total to Rs. 29.38 cr nett. The mixed reviews and word-of-mouth compounded with the diametrically opposite fortunes of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior have also not provided any breathing space to the Deepika Padukone starrer. From here onward, the writing is pretty much on the wall for Chhapaak, and barring a huge miracle, the film will end up as a flop at the box office.

Truth be told, Chhapaak has only itself to blame for the position it finds itself in as the subject and talent involved were ripe for a critically acclaimed and runaway smash at the ticket windows. However, unlike her previous stellar efforts, Talvar and Raazi, Director Meghna Gulzar squandered a wonderful opportunity this time around, serving a film that while decent, had the potential to do a lot more with its topical plot. It also puts a spoke in Deepika's dream run at the box office, following Piku, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.
