South Africa's Zozibini Tunzi was crowned as the Miss Universe 2019 on Sunday night. The final competition was between Zozibini and Miss Universe Puerto Rico Madison Anderson for the Miss Universe title. However, former Miss Universe (2018) Catriona Gray crowned Zozibini Tunzi as her successor at the event held in Atlanta. Miss Universe Mexico was announced as the second-runner up. Meanwhile, all the eyes were on Miss Diva 2019 Vartika Singh, who represented India in the competition. Singh made it to top 20 but couldn't make it to top 10.

Zozibini Tunzi is 26 years old and hails from Tsolo, South Africa. Tunzi is an active advocate against gender-based violence. Her Miss Universe bio reads, "She has devoted her social media campaign to changing the narrative around gender stereotypes. She is a proud advocate for natural beauty and encourages women to love themselves the way they are."
The top five contedners for the title were Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Thailand and South Africa. The 2019 Miss Universe pageant was held on Sunday night in Atlanta, the capital of the US state of Georgia. 90 participants walked in the pageant and fought hard to bring home the title. The contestants competed in swimsuit, evening gown and on-stage question rounds.
In the Q & A round, the final question that sealed the deal for Miss Universe South Africa to win her the crown was, "What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today?"
Post Zozibini Tunzo's victory, Oprah Winfrey tweeted to congratulate her. Her tweet read, "Congratulations Miss South Africa, the new Miss Universe @zozitunzi! Agree with you...leadership is the most powerful thing we should be teaching young women today. We welcome your visit to #OWLAG, our Leadership Academy for Girls (sic)."
