The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 2: Disney’s Animated Film Eyes Rs 50 Crore Weekend!

The Lion King is roaring loud at the box office! Produced by Disney, the film has set the cash registers ringing out loud, as the film registered a massive growth in figures. The Lion King promised a whole lot of nostalgia for the adults and entertainment for the kids. The film added another in Rs 19.15 crore to its collection. Trade expert Taran Adarsh shared the details and wrote, "#TheLionKing is remarkable on Day 2... As predicted, kids and families throng cinema halls, resulting in biz hitting [near] optimum levels at places... Day 3 will be huge again... Eyes 50 cr+ weekend... Fri 11.06 cr, Sat 19.15 cr. Total: 30.21 cr. India biz. All versions."

A remake of Disney's 1994 animated classic by the same name, The Lion King is expected to earn even more on Sunday. Unfortunately, the film was leaked on the internet by Tamilrockers. Known for notoriously leaking Bollywood and Hollywood films on the internet, The Lion King is its latest victim. Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King features the voices of James Earl Jones, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver and Beyonc Knowles-Carter. The Hindi dubbed version has Shah Rukh Khan doing the voiceover for Mufasa while his son Aryan Khan did the dubbing for Simba's character.

Recently the actor told IANS that he has watched the original The Lion King almost 40 times. Shah Rukh said, "We started watching 'The Lion King' when it came out. Obviously, we had three kids at different intervals. We would make pizzas or dosas or whatever the kids liked, and create a movie theatre atmosphere at home and watch Lion King." The actor went on to add, "I have seen it for 40 times at least. Maybe not the whole film but every now and then when my kids watched it."

BollywoodLife reviewed the film and gave it two and a half stars, "It is a gorgeous looking film and it is tough to believe that everything has been created through technology. The animals look real and you will be stunned by the images of the forests, star lit skies and animal movements. In short, the CGI is awe-inspiring. The little Simba is too cute for words. The highlight of the old film was the emotional quotient. We still remember how moved we were on seeing Simba distraught over the death of his father. His realization of his destiny and the final showdown stood out brilliantly. The narrative here does not have similar impact. We so wish that the story of Nala and Simba was fleshed better."
