Aamir Khan's NGO Paani Foundation is one of his prime passions besides films. It works towards improving the water scarcity situation in the state. He was in the village of Zhawadarjun, where he posted pictures of Kiran Rao and him enjoying sugarcane juice and bhel-puri from a newspaper. The Paani Foundation works at creating wells for storage of water during the monsoons. This time before the rainy season is damn important. Aamir Khan has urged people to be a Jalmitra and fight drought in the state. One can contribute financially or do shramdaan, which is physical effort. He has told people to become more sensitive towards the situation and help villages reeling under drought in scorching summers.

Aamir and Kiran are regular guests on Toofan Aalaya, a weekly Marathi TV show that talks about the water situation in Maharashtra. They also feature Marathi film stars and the latest celebrity to come on the show was Madhuri Dixit Nene. In 2018, Alia Bhatt came and did Shramdaan on May 1. The pictures went viral. She was in Latur, Maharashtra for the same. Alia is very conscious about the environment and dedicated herself to the cause for the day. Last year, he was seen on Thugs of Hindostan, which was one of the biggest flops of the year. His next film is Lal Singh Chaddha, the official remake of Tom Hanks' blockbuster, Forest Gump. The project was announced on his birthday in March. It will be directed by Advait Chandan, who made the film Secret Superstar.
